Original Advisory
uuid before 14.0.0 can make unexpected writes when external output buffers are used, and the UUID version is 3, 5, or 6. In particular, UUID version 4, which is very commonly used, is unaffected by this issue.
The vulnerability requires local access to the device to be exploited. It is difficult for an attacker to exploit this vulnerability and may require special conditions. An attacker does not need any special privileges or access rights. No user interaction is needed for the attacker to exploit this vulnerability. The vulnerability can affect other systems as well, not just the initial system. There is a low impact on the integrity of the data.
